Hello all…  Place Cards and Escort Cards are two items used at a reception.  Oftentimes, brides and grooms use them interchangeably and refer to them as the same thing.  Well, they aren’t.  Escort Cards are cards placed at the entrance of your reception venue – often the lobby.  The guest’s name and the table name/number should be written on the card.  So, as the guests enter, they can find their name and go to the table that is listed on their card.

Once they are at their respective table, there is a “Place card” at each table setting.  The place card should have the guest’s name written on it to let them know where they are sitting at the table.

You don’t have to have place cards as they are an additional piece of stationery with added expense.  However, the escort cards do lend to an organized and easier flow at the reception.  There are ways to save if you do like the idea of having place cards and escort cards at your reception.

1. Instead of printing a separate place card, add the guest’s name to the Menu cards at each setting.  This actually adds a nice personal touch to the place setting.

2. Instead of printing a monogram label for the favor, add the guest’s name and let the favor do double duty.  It can be the favor for your guests and also let them know where to sit at the table.
