Hello all,

As 2016 ends and the new year approaches, Pantone announces it’s new “Color of the Year”.  Drum-roll please, the new color is “Greenery”.  This to me, doesn’t specify one specific type of green.  As we know greenery in floral speak encompasses light green to the deepest darkest green color.  This means more fun for design! Here are color palette inspirations and designs to inspire for the upcoming year!

Hello all,

Please welcome Stevi-Marie and Adam!  We helped to plan Stevi- Marie and Adams big day.  Big indeed, with approximately 500 guests in attendance, we wanted everyone to enjoy the day and partake in the joyous union of Stevi-Marie and Adam!  They were wed at  St. Peter Claver Catholic Church located in St. Inigoes, MD.  The wedding reception was held on the beautiful lawn overlooking the Potomac River.  It was such a perfect day.   Judah Avenue Photography was able to capture such beautiful and romantic photos throughout the day. They had a full cast of characters with Stevi and Adam’s bridal party.  They were so fun and full of excitement for the bride and groom.  Stevi-Marie selected the colors pink, purple, and silver. These are perfect colors for a summer wedding.  This amazing wedding was featured in an online magazine.  You can view the wedding video at the end of the post.

Congratulations to Stevi-Marie and Adam!  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your fabulous day!

Hello all,

Please welcome Sara and Josh!  Sara is cousins with Elaine{our former client}.  We provided florals and decor for Elaine’s wedding in December.  Well, Sara attended Elaine’s wedding and loved our work! Five months later, we designed Sara and Josh’s beautiful summer wedding! Yay!!!  They were wed at  Trinity Church located in Historic St. Mary’s City, MD.  The wedding reception was held adjacent to the church on the beautiful lawn overlooking the St. Mary’s River.  It was such a perfect day in spite of the rain.  There were severe storms that came through the area during the reception, but nothing stopped their day.  Jill with Jill Christine Design & Photography was able to capture such beautiful and romantic photos throughout the day.  Sara selected the colors pink, silver, and royal blue. These are perfect colors for a summer wedding. We blended these colors with lots of lanterns(she loves lanterns!) and mercury/mirror accents to create a romantic and elegant tablescape.

Congratulations to Sara and Josh!  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your fabulous day!

Hello all,

It is that time of the year when Pantone announces it’s “Color of the Year”.  Drumroll……. Rose Quartz and Serenity (otherwise known as baby blue).  There you have it.  2016’s colors of the year are very light and soft pastel colors.  One can say Pantone took to the skies and favored the beautiful hue of the sunset.  I think this is a beautiful combination that can be very elegant and classy.  Let’s make 2016 amazing with this color combination! Hello all,

Lace is very popular for 2016!  White lace is a given.  What about white with a black lace overlay? We love it! Black lace works can be added to many wedding details from the invitations to the wedding cake.  We wouldn’t suggest using the black lace for every detail as shown our inspiration board below, but certainly touches of it here and there makes for a stunning overall look.   (more…)

Hello all,

A really big trend in the floral industry are the creation of floral table runners and swags.  One might ask, “What is that?”.  It is a long table runner created out of flowers, fillers and greenery.  Most floral table runners area accented with tall candles and glass vases to add height to the design.  Although this look can be quite costly with a design full of flowers, we love to see it on the Sweetheart table and/or a few select special tables.  (more…)

Hello all,

Please welcome Cory and Charlie Chapman!  This was a really special couple to work with as they are my family!  Yay!!!  Cory is my first cousin.  So when he and Charlie decided to do a vow renewal and asked me plan it for them, I was all in!  They were married privately and never had the chance to celebrate their union with family and friends.  So, not only was this a renewal of their commitment and love for one another, it was also a chance to enjoy family and friends in their honor.  Over the course of the year of planning, their color scheme changed quite a bit, but ultimately, they settled on shades of purple with silver accents.  We all know, this made my heart skip a beat!  {I love purple!}  They also wanted a more modern venue.  Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center located in College Park, MD was the final selection.   Charlie turned out to be one of my most detail oriented brides. Lol! She was an Etsy fanatic.  As you will see below in the photos, she selected a lot of cool items to personalize their day. (more…)

These are perfect colors for summer.  We added lots of candlelight and vintage lanterns to complete the decor. (more…)

Hello all…. We have a love and passion for weddings, but we also plan other events.  In May of this year, we assisted the Marquis family in planning their son’s Bar Mitzvah.  We planned their daughter’s Bat Mitzvah a few years ago. So we were thrilled when they came to us for their son’s celebration. Family and friends from all over the US joined us to celebrate this wonderful time in Aleks’s life.  Aleks loves all things video game.  So it was a no brainer that theme of his Mitzvah would be “Video Arcade”.   The planning began with Aleks telling me all about his favorite video games and characters.  We were on a way to loads of fun! The room was filled with love, great games, and tasty food.  Thank you to the staff at Holiday Inn- Solomons.  The food was excellent and the service was superb!  A special thank you toAmanda with Amanda MacMahon Photography for providing these amazing photos!

Hello all,

Please welcome Britney and Kyle Walter.  We assisted this lovely couple with the Design & Decor including linen rental and stationery details for their wedding reception which was held at the historic and serene Woodlawn Farm Estate located in Ridge, MD on May 2, 2015.  This venue was a special place for Britney and Kyle.   Their families came together and spent the entire weekend at the on site Bed and Breakfast celebrating their wedding. Britney loves the color pink and anything that sparkles.  We immediately knew that we had to incorporate pink sequin linens into the tablescape.  What a striking addition!  Candlelight, white hydrangea, a variety of pink flowers and sparkling gold accents completed the elegant and classic look! Hello all,

Your cake design plays a large part in the overall look of your reception.  The wedding cake typically sits near the Bride and Groom’s table, so the it must have just as much of a “WOW” factor as your bridal table.  Years ago, cake toppers and a few flowers were the extent of a fabulous cake design.  Boy have things changed!  Yes, there are many cute cake toppers, but cakes have evolved into a work of art.  Do you agree? Not only do we plan weddings, we also plan birthday parties!  My daughter turned 16 this month.  She knew from the start that she wanted an upscale party to celebrate with her family and friends.  Guests were instructed to wear all black.  The birthday girl would be the only one to wear ivory and gold.  Black feathers, gold accents, red flowers and lots of candles filled the room. Hello all,

We are so inspired by anything unique and different.  While shopping for wedding dresses, brides always search for that dress with a WOW factor and one that flatters them the most.  The next step is to accessorize with jewels and shows.  How about adding a cape or bolero? This can be an easy and cost effective way of creating 2 different looks for your wedding day without having to purchase two completely different dresses.  You can wear the cape or bolero during the ceremony and take it off for the reception.    Check out the creative designs of the cape/bolero below. The designs ranges from sheer overlays to ornate jewelry.  I am in love with them all! :o) (more…)

Hello all,

Please welcome the Doctors Oge and Chinedu Ejike.  This beautiful and lively couple were wed on August 30, 2014 in Baltimore, MD.

Oge and Chinedu are both residents and live out of state.  Their families reside in Maryland, so when Chinedu proposed to Oge, the planning began for a Maryland wedding.  Once Oge laid eyes on “The Belvedere-Baltimore”, she fell in love.  The Belvedere has an ornate and robust setting!  The room that they selected is adorned in deep reds and gold.  DaVinci florist created the perfect blend of florals, crystals, and candlelight which made for a grand and luxurious reception.   Her flowers consisted of calla lillies, hydrangea, roses and orchids.   Oge wore a beautiful ballroom styled dress by Demetrios.  She was stunning!  The bridesmaids each wore a long and elegant black gown. Chinedu and the groomsmen all wore black tuxedos.  (more…)

We are so thrilled to see the new designs on the scene for bridesmaids dresses this year.  Lace has made a major comeback!  Once thought of a dainty and boring fabric type, we say no more!  The lace designs are certainly elegant, but have more of an edge and modern feel to them.  We have displayed a few designs from major designer below for your viewing. Enjoy!!!!  (more…)

Hello all,

We had the extreme pleasure of working with some amazing vendors to come up with a New Year’s Eve Masquerade themed photoshoot.  Immediately, I knew the location had to be a historic venue reminiscent of New Orleans’s French Quarters.  Newton White Mansion located in Mitchellville, MD fit the bill.  This location has grandeur mixed with elegance.  The colors selected were gold, black, white, and Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year – Marsala.  We wanted to give inspiration for the newly deemed color for 2015.  Munaluchi Bridal featured our photoshoot on New Year’s Eve.   Judah Avenue captured the detail beautifully.    We hope you agree. Hello all,

Even though this photo shoot took place earlier this year, I had to post it.  The Inspired Bride featured it on their blog yesterday!  Yayy!!! You can catch the feature here.  We wanted to give you the skinny on it from a design perspective.  Amanda McMahon Photography, Fantastic Floral Events and I all put our heads together to create a Bohemain Chic photo shoot.  “What is that?”, one might ask.  Bohemian style is very ecclectic and earthy.  It is full of jewel tone colors, gems, and flowers plus lots of wood and earthy elements.  We couldn’t think of a better place than Annmarie Gardens to hold the photoshoot.  We took a field trip to the venue and walked around until we found the perfect setting.  We found 2 trees to provide the support for our suspended floral branch.  The magic began!  Enjoy!! Hello all,

Many would argue that paper decor has no place in wedding design.  I beg to differ.  Paper flowers have made its way to the forefront of striking decor for weddings serving as backdrops for the ceremony, head table, dessert table, and photobooths.  The use of paper lanterns have also made a comeback in the past year.  Brides and designers have used them in tents and outdoor weddings as accent/mood lighting and also to offer a fairy-tale feel.  Here are a few photos to inspire you! Please welcome Karyn Farrar and Elicia Eberhart.  This beautiful and lively couple were wed on July 5, 2014 at Woodlawn Farm Estates located in Ridge,MD.  The couple planned a destination weekend in beautiful St.Mary’s County to fully enjoy the holiday weekend.  Family and friends traveled from across the country to celebrate their union.

Karyn and Elicia wanted a fun, eclectic, and memorable wedding.  They wanted their guests to enjoy their big day as much as they planned to – hence the awesome photo booth and actual tandem bike available for guests to ride at their leisure. They selected a vibrant color palette which consisted of mint green, fuchsia, and orange.  Karyn and Elicia each wore beautiful strapless dresses.  They picked them out separately and were amazed at how similar both designs were.  Their sisters and brothers stood beside them as they exchanges vows.  The ladies work fuchsia chiffon dresses.  Karyn’s brother wore a relaxed gray pant and vest.  Karyn’s sister designed all of the florals. They consisted of a beautifully and flowy mixture of flowers to compliment the wedding feel.  After exchanging vows at the water’sedge, everyone continued the celebration under a tent next to the historic house and wine cottage. Hello all,

The shape and style of a bridal bouquet plays an important role in the overall bridal look.  A round, hand-tied bouquet has been the most popular bouquet style/shape for years.  This bouquet compliments all bridal shapes and sizes while also blending beautifully with a modern, chic, and elegant wedding.  We are seeing more and more brides request a fluid and flowy bouquet.  This bouquet type is very romantic and gives a garden feel.  You will see more greenery and elements with texture in these designs.  With that, it tends to compliment a garden, outdoor, and rustic type of wedding theme.  Here are a few photos below to display the different designs. Hello all,

New York’s Fashion Week revealed new lines of the dramatic, daring, and beautiful wedding dress designs.  This inspired us to focus on one part of the wedding dress – the back of it!  Designers are showing us that the back of a wedding dress can be just as, if not more, stunning than the front of the dress.  (more…)

Hello all,

Today is all about the “glam”.  We are inspired and drawn to “Old Hollywood Glam”.  It is exciting in every aspect.  It has drama, lots of details, plenty of style, and is simply beautiful.  These were the days when feathers, pearls, and diamonds all coexisted and defined glamour.  “Old Hollywood Glam” styling displays the trio in centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, invitations – essentially (more…)

Hello all,

We have had a busy summer full of wonderful and joyous weddings!    Please welcome Megan and Joe Rapoport.  We had plans for a beautiful wedding in St. Mary’s County alongside the river.  In early July, we received word that Joe’s deployment would extend past the original wedding date, so we had to re plan the wedding in just 4 weeks.  The challenge was to find a venue on the water, in Southern Maryland with the new date available that fit the couple’s vision.  Weatherly Farm located in Newburg, MD was the perfect match.  With God’s grace, Megan and Joe’s perfect day was held at this amazing venue on August 3, 2013.  Megan wanted a simple and elegant wedding with a navy, white, and silver color scheme.   The bridesmaids wore long navy dresses of different designs.  Their bouquets were simple bunches of large white mums. Hello all,

We recently received photos from one of our June weddings.  Please welcome Lauren and Garrett Cook.  We worked with Lauren and Garrett for about a year to plan their beautiful day which was held at River’s Edge located in Patuxent River on June 29, 2013.  Lauren came to us with a striking color palette – yellow and the perfect shade of teal.  This was the perfect color combination for a summer wedding.  The bridesmaids wore teal chiffon dresses {great for the summer} that flowed in the wind, with mint shoes.  Vibrant bouquets were filled with shades of yellow spider mums, alstroemeria lilies, and billy balls.  Lauren loves antique brooches.  Her bouquet was a unique design of half flowers and half brooches.  As a special surprise to her bridesmaids, she gave each one of them a brooch that was pinned to their bouquet. {see photo below} (more…)
